A malicious text message nicknamed 'MS of Death' can freeze or crash Android devices, according to technology commentary circulating on Mastodon. Reports say receiving the SMS in certain Android messaging apps may trigger errors that lock up the phone until it is restarted. The flaw appears to stem from how the system processes malformed message data rather than from any malware payload. Experts urge users to keep their phones updated and consider disabling automatic message previews.
