Typst now offers a hardened HTTP render API alongside collaborative authoring features, positioning itself as a first-class service for university workflows. Supporters argue this lets institutions write, collaborate and render documents live instead of settling for static PDFs, with sovereignty-minded universities seen as a natural fit for the open-source typesetting tool.
Why now: The new API and collaboration support make Typst a credible alternative to traditional PDF-based academic document workflows.
