Original: Cities drive the climate crisis and hold the keys to ending it, London Mayor Sadiq Khan said in an interview with a news
London Mayor Sadiq Khan said cities both drive the climate crisis and hold the keys to ending it, in an interview ahead of his trip to Türkiye for the COP31 climate summit. He is expected to press the case that urban governments must be central to climate negotiations and policy, arguing mayors can deliver emissions cuts faster than national governments.
Why now: Khan's remarks come just before the COP31 climate summit in Türkiye, drawing attention to the role of cities in climate talks.
