Original: Tech Transfer Or Backdoor Sale? | Modi Govt Boosting Or Compromising ISRO’s Future? | Akash Banerjee
A political commentary debate is drawing large attention in India over whether the Modi government's recent moves on ISRO amount to genuine technology transfer and reform, or a backdoor privatisation that compromises the space agency's future. Commentators are split between those who see the policy as boosting private participation in India's space sector and those warning it erodes ISRO's autonomy and strategic assets.
Why now: The government's space sector reforms and privatisation push have reignited political debate about ISRO's independence and national interest.
