Alexander Zverev has been confirmed as the new ATP world No. 1 after beating Tallon Griekspoor at the Vienna Open. The milestone comes years after he missed the chance to reach the top ranking in 2022, when an ankle injury sustained at the French Open derailed his season. Tennis fans are reacting to the German finally claiming the top spot following that long setback.

Why now: Zverev reaching world No. 1 after his 2022 injury heartbreak is a major tennis milestone.
