Debate Erupts Over African Music Accounts Run by Europeans
Original: Side note, remember that time I made a whole fuss about how # AfricanMusic accounts on # Fedi were run by European colon
A Mastodon user has revived claims that African music accounts on the decentralised social network were run by Europeans rather than Africans, saying an earlier callout was poorly received by some in the community. The post points to a Zimbabwean musician, Kembo, discussing Zimbabwean rock as an example of authentic local voices being overlooked.
Why now: Ongoing tensions about who represents African culture and voices on decentralised social platforms

- Side note, remember that time I made a whole fuss about how # AfricanMusic accounts on # Fedi were run by European colonisers actively living out here? Lol.
