Original: Sudan RSF commander defects from Hemedti’s forces
A commander in Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces has defected from the force led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as Hemedti, according to Al Jazeera. The defection comes as the RSF battles the Sudanese army in a civil war that has displaced millions and drawn scrutiny over the paramilitary's cohesion and command structure.
Why now: Defections from the RSF suggest possible fractures in Hemedti's command amid Sudan's ongoing civil war.
