The Lost Jungle of Antarctica Where the Sun Vanished for 4 Months
Original: The Lost Jungle of Antarctica Where the Sun Vanished for 4 Months!
Antarctica once hosted dense forests and jungles, a stark contrast to today's icy desert. Fossil evidence shows the continent was covered in lush vegetation millions of years ago, when it sat closer to warmer climates. Despite thriving plant life, the region still endured polar winters with roughly four months of darkness when the sun never rose above the horizon.
Why now: Striking science storytelling about Antarctica's green prehistoric past and its polar night is drawing wide interest
