Eurobarometer finds strong European support for EU civil protection cooperation
Original: Europeans overwhelmingly support stronger EU civil protection cooperation, new Eurobarometer shows
A new Eurobarometer survey shows that Europeans overwhelmingly back stronger EU cooperation on civil protection. The European Commission's civil protection and humanitarian aid service announced the findings, which indicate broad public support for coordinated EU action on disaster preparedness and response. The results come amid growing attention to wildfires, floods and other emergencies across Europe, where cross-border assistance mechanisms such as the EU Civil Protection Mechanism have been increasingly deployed.
Why now: Rising climate-related disasters across Europe are putting a spotlight on how the EU coordinates emergency response.
