Google Custom Search API is shutting down, developers seek alternatives
Original: Google Custom Search API is shutting down: migration guide and alternatives
Google is discontinuing the Custom Search API, prompting developers to look for migration paths and replacement services. A migration guide circulating among engineers outlines alternatives, including third-party search APIs and self-hosted options. Developers are discussing the impact on search-dependent applications and comparing costs, rate limits, and result quality across the available replacement services.
Why now: Developers whose projects rely on Google Custom Search need to migrate and are weighing alternatives.
