Reddit moves to logged-in experience as AI eats search

Original: reddit

Reddit is shifting toward a logged-in experience, a move reported by Axios as part of its response to AI tools increasingly replacing traditional search. The change would push users to sign in to view content, giving Reddit more control over its data and advertising value while traffic from search engines declines. The story is being picked up across multiple regions, including in France.

Why now: Reddit's shift toward login-required access reflects broader concern about AI replacing search and reshaping web traffic.
