Reddit pushes logged-in experience as Google AI cuts traffic

Original: reddit

Reuters reports that Reddit is prioritizing its logged-in experience as traffic from Google is affected by the rise of AI-generated answers in search results. The move suggests the company is trying to reduce its dependence on search referrals and keep users within its own app, where it can control the experience and monetization. It highlights a broader challenge for publishers as AI tools change how people find content online.

Why now: Google's AI overviews are changing search traffic patterns, and Reddit's strategic response affects how millions of users access content.
