LDS Church donates millions to combat invasive plants threatening Great Salt Lake
Original: Church gives millions to fight invasive plants choking Great Salt Lake’s water
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is donating millions of dollars to help remove invasive phragmites and other water-hungry plants around the Great Salt Lake in Utah. The vegetation is choking waterways and reducing the flow of water into the shrinking lake. The funds will support restoration efforts aimed at preserving the lake's water levels and surrounding ecosystem.
Why now: The Great Salt Lake's record-low water levels have made conservation funding a major public concern in Utah.
