Former Ukraine Ambassador Says GOP Base Favors Ukraine Over Russia
Original: Former Ukraine Ambassador Says GOP Base Strongly Favors Ukraine Over Russia
A former US ambassador to Ukraine has said that the Republican Party's base strongly supports Ukraine in its war against Russia, contrary to perceptions of growing GOP skepticism about aid to Kyiv. The claim is drawing attention amid ongoing debate within the Republican Party and Congress over the future of US military and financial assistance to Ukraine.
Why now: Ongoing Republican debate over US aid to Ukraine keeps statements about the party base's views highly relevant.
