Wisconsin Farm Advocates Push Congress on Family Dairies Act
Original: Wisconsin Farm Advocates Join in Urging Congress to Back Milk From Family Dairies Act
Farm advocacy groups in Wisconsin are urging members of Congress to support the Milk From Family Dairies Act, legislation aimed at bolstering small dairy farms. Supporters say the bill would help family-operated dairies cope with low milk prices and mounting financial pressure. The state, a leading milk producer, has seen many small farms close in recent years.
Why now: Ongoing struggles of small dairy farms in Wisconsin and the introduction of federal legislation to support them have drawn attention to the bill.
