Wired reports ICE running vast surveillance of left-wing movements
Original: Evidence of a spying operation by ICE against left-wing social movements
Wired reports that ICE is conducting one of the largest anti-left surveillance operations in US history, gathering evidence of spying against left-wing social movements. The story alleges the immigration agency has been monitoring activists and political organisations beyond its immigration enforcement mandate. Readers are debating the scale of the operation and its implications for civil liberties and political dissent in the United States.
Why now: The Wired investigation is newly published and raises concerns about a government agency surveilling domestic political groups.
