Ukraine weighs returning to nighttime blackout measures over new Russian drones

Original: Ukraine may return to nighttime lights-out measures due to new Russian drones – 'Flash' If Russia begins mass deployment

Ukraine may have to reintroduce nighttime lights-out restrictions if Russia begins mass deployment of the 'Susanin' optical navigation module on its Geran-5 jet-powered attack drone and other unmanned aircraft, according to commentary attributed to 'Flash'. The new navigation system would make drones harder to jam or divert, raising the threat to cities at night. Officials and observers say the measures limiting electricity use and visibility after dark could be reconsidered if the threat intensifies.

Why now: Reports of a new optical navigation module for Russian attack drones are renewing fears of strikes on Ukrainian cities and a possible return of blackout measures.
