West-Central Montana Check Stations See Steady Hunter Traffic on Opening Weekend
Original: West-Central Montana Hunter Check Stations Saw Steady Hunter Traffic on Opening Weekend
Montana fish and wildlife check stations in the west-central part of the state reported steady hunter traffic over the opening weekend of the season. Staff at the stations used the opportunity to collect harvest data from hunters passing through, a routine part of monitoring game populations. The steady turnout suggests solid participation in the season opener, and hunters are being reminded to stop at check stations as required.
Why now: The hunting season opener draws attention from local hunters and outdoors communities tracking conditions and harvest reports.
