The foss.events project has published a retrospective marking the moment its directory of free and open source software gatherings in Europe recorded its 1,000th event. The piece tells the story of how the initiative grew, cataloguing community-run conferences, hackathons and meetups, and reflects on the role such events play in sustaining the free software movement across the continent.
Why now: The free and open source software community is celebrating the project's milestone of documenting 1,000 events in Europe.
