Fake Halloween cobwebs proving deadly for wildlife
Original: Killer cobwebs: The Halloween decorations causing problems for wildlife
Synthetic stretchy spider web decorations hung up for Halloween are trapping and killing birds, insects and small animals that become entangled in them. Wildlife groups are warning households about the dangers of the popular decorations, with reports of hedgehogs, birds and bats caught in the fibres, and are urging people to remove them quickly or choose safer alternatives.
Why now: Halloween is approaching and conservationists are raising fresh warnings about the harm decorative fake cobwebs cause to wild animals.
