Spain in focus: deadly floods and forced evictions stir anger
Original: spanien
Spain is drawing widespread attention after severe flooding, with drone footage showing the scale of the devastation and authorities confirming the death of a 102-year-old woman. At the same time, an 87-year-old pensioner who was forcibly evicted from her home amid mass protests has been allowed to return, a move celebrated by housing activists. Together, the stories have made Spain a leading topic of conversation in German-language media.
Why now: Two emotionally charged stories from Spain, deadly flood damage and a contentious eviction reversed after protests, are dominating news coverage.
