High school soccer PK blunder forces result overturned

Original: 高校サッカー

Japanese high school soccer is in the spotlight after a shootout penalty that clearly went through the net was ruled no goal. The national high school federation has admitted the refereeing error and overturned the match result, reversing the defeat. Broadcasters and fans are debating how such an obvious miss happened, with past officiating and administrative mistakes also being recalled.

Why now: A federation overturning a match result after admitting a missed goal in a shootout is highly unusual and controversial.
