Hilliard Review Finds Amazon Data-Center Projects Compliant but Public Returns Unclear
Original: Hilliard Review Finds Amazon Data-Center Projects Compliant, but Leaves Broader Public Returns Unclear - Landon Fisher
A review in Hilliard, Ohio has concluded that Amazon's data-center projects there comply with applicable rules, but the assessment left open questions about what broader benefits the community actually receives in return. Officials and residents are weighing whether compliance with regulations translates into meaningful public value, as the review did not resolve how jobs, tax revenue and infrastructure costs balance out for the city.
Why now: Data-center expansion is under scrutiny across Ohio communities, with residents questioning whether local deals deliver fair public returns.
