Monarchs at Play, a 4X strategy city-builder built around chaining hexagonal tiles, is being pitched as a strategy game that can be finished in about an hour. The pitch leans into the idea that adult players no longer have time for long sessions, citing busy lives and economic pressures. Gamers are discussing whether short-session strategy designs could be the way forward for the genre.

Why now: Its promise of a complete 4X strategy experience in roughly an hour taps into widespread discussion about adults lacking free time for long games.
