Discord to make public server messages searchable via Google
Original: Discord will soon let anyone find public server messages through Google
Discord has announced that messages from public, Discoverable servers will soon be indexed and findable through Google search. The change means anyone, not just Discord users, could land on server conversations via a web search. The company published the update on its official blog, prompting discussion about privacy implications for communities that may not realise their messages are publicly indexable.
Why now: Users are concerned about the privacy implications of previously semi-private chat content becoming searchable by anyone on the open web.
