Meta and partners release Velox open source execution engine
Original: Meta and partners build Velox open source execution engine
Meta, working with industry partners, has built Velox, an open source execution engine for data processing. The project aims to standardise and speed up the software layers that run analytics queries across different data systems, letting companies reuse a common engine rather than build their own. The collaboration highlights continued industry investment in shared open source infrastructure for large-scale data workloads.
Why now: Meta's involvement and the open sourcing of core data infrastructure draw attention from the engineering and data community.
