California Faces 'Climate Whiplash' Without Systemic Change
Original: California Faces “Climate Whiplash” Without Systemic Change
Sierra Club is warning that California is experiencing 'climate whiplash' — rapid swings between extreme drought and intense flooding — and argues the state cannot adapt without systemic change to its water management, infrastructure and climate policy. The group says patchwork responses to each disaster are insufficient as weather extremes grow more volatile.
Why now: Renewed attention on California's extreme drought-to-flood swings is prompting calls for structural climate adaptation.
