Home Office refused visa to ex-Weather Underground activist invited by RSC
Original: Shabana Mahmood urged to grant visa to former Weather Underground activist By Nadia Khomami Arts and culture corresponde
The Home Office has refused entry to Judith Clark, 77, a former Weather Underground activist, who was invited by the Royal Shakespeare Company to speak about restorative justice following her release from prison. Campaigners and arts figures are urging Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood to intervene and grant the visa so Clark can attend the event in the UK.
Why now: The visa refusal pits the government against prominent arts figures backing a high-profile speaking invitation.
