Dutch tile-flipping trend turns gardens greener
Original: Tegelwippen mensen! Omdat je tuin daar leuker van wordt! # art # streetart # kunst
People in the Netherlands are being encouraged to 'flip tiles' (tegelwippen), removing paving from their gardens and replacing it with plants and greenery. Supporters say it makes gardens nicer while helping rainwater drain and cooling cities during heatwaves. The campaign, promoted by environmental groups and municipalities, has become a popular DIY activity, with some regions even organising tile-wipping competitions to see who can de-pave the most.
Why now: The Dutch tile-flipping campaign is an ongoing sustainability trend people share as gardens are de-paved for greener yards.
