Bolsonaro effectively concedes defeat in Brazil after Trump signals withdrawal of support

Original: Bolsonaro effectively concedes in Brazil after Trump suggests he won’t help

Jair Bolsonaro has effectively conceded in Brazil, according to a Washington Post report, after Donald Trump suggested he would not intervene on the Brazilian leader's behalf. The acknowledgment marks a turning point in the post-election standoff in Brazil. With no backing from Washington expected, Bolsonaro's options for contesting the result appear exhausted, and attention now shifts to the transition of power.

Why now: Trump's suggestion that he would not help removed a key source of leverage, prompting Bolsonaro to stop contesting the outcome.
