$1 Million in Stolen Train Cargo Recovered in Chatsworth
Original: $1 million stolen train cargo of tennis shoes and backpacks recovered in Chatsworth
Cargo worth about $1 million, mainly tennis shoes and backpacks stolen from a freight train, has been recovered in Chatsworth, California, according to CBS News. The recovery follows a string of high-profile cargo thefts from trains in the Los Angeles area, where stolen goods are often dumped along rail lines. Authorities have not detailed arrests in the case, and investigations into the theft ring behind it continue.
Why now: Cargo train thefts in Southern California have been a recurring concern, so a large recovery draws attention.
