Original: UN cites 'ethnic cleansing' concerns around Israel's Palestinian displacement operation in Hebron

The United Nations has raised concerns that Israel's operation displacing Palestinians in Hebron may amount to ethnic cleansing. The warning concerns the forced removal of Palestinian residents from parts of the occupied West Bank city. Human rights groups and international observers are closely watching the situation, with the UN's language marking an unusually strong condemnation of Israeli policy in the territory.

Why now: The UN's use of the phrase 'ethnic cleansing' is a serious escalation in language regarding Israel's conduct in the occupied West Bank.
