UK national security adviser pressed over wife's Palestine Action comment
Original: UK national security adviser under pressure over wife's comment on supporting Palestine Action https://www.theguardian.c
Jonathan Powell, the UK's national security adviser, is facing pressure after his wife, Sarah Helm, was linked to a comment expressing support for Palestine Action, reportedly connected to author Sally Rooney. The story has sparked debate about proximity between senior security officials and groups the government has proscribed as terrorist organisations. Critics are calling for clarity, while supporters argue personal family views should not implicate the adviser himself.
Why now: The alleged overlap between a top security official's family and a banned group raises conflict-of-interest concerns at a tense moment for UK Middle East policy.
