New Slang "Slop-Jockeys" Mocks Vibe Coders

A new mocking term for "vibe coders" — people who build software by prompting AI tools without deeply reviewing the code — is circulating among developers: "slop-jockeys." The jab riffs on "slop," the disparaging word for low-quality AI-generated output. Reactions online are mostly amused, with some programmers gleefully adopting the insult as a critique of AI-assisted coding practices.
Why now: Developers are debating and joking about the quality of AI-assisted "vibe coding" as generative AI tools become mainstream in programming.
