Palantir and London Mayor Sadiq Khan have abandoned their legal battle over the technology firm's contract with the Metropolitan Police. The dispute, which drew scrutiny over the police use of Palantir's data platforms, has been dropped without a court ruling. Observers are watching what the withdrawal means for transparency and oversight of policing data deals in London.
Why now: The sudden end of a high-profile dispute between a major data firm and London's mayor raises questions about the Met's technology contracts.
