Original: GB men 'on back foot' after Richardson withdrawal, but women take silver https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cycling/articles/ck
Great Britain's men have been left 'on the back foot' at the Olympics cycling competition following the withdrawal of athlete Richardson, the BBC reports. The British women's team, by contrast, delivered a positive result, taking silver in their event. Attention is now on how the men's squad regroups after losing a key rider, while the women's medal offers a lift.
Why now: Richardson's withdrawal is a significant blow to GB's Olympic cycling medal hopes just as the women's team won silver.
