Peta releases video of infant monkey experiments at University of Washington
Original: Peta releases video showing experiments on infant monkeys at Univ of Washington
Animal rights group Peta has released footage it says shows experiments being carried out on infant monkeys at the University of Washington. The video is drawing renewed attention to the ethics of taxpayer-funded primate research and calls for greater transparency from the university. Critics of animal testing are pressing for an independent review, while researchers defend the work as necessary for medical science.
Why now: The graphic footage has reignited the debate over animal testing at a major publicly funded university.
