UK defence minister slams Jenrick's migrant boat shooting suggestion

Original: 'Illegal and disgusting:' Defence minister slams Robert Jenrick's suggestion Royal Navy should shoot migrant boats in Ch

A UK defence minister has strongly criticised Robert Jenrick, the former immigration minister, after Jenrick suggested the Royal Navy should shoot at migrant boats crossing the Channel, calling the idea 'illegal and disgusting'. The clash highlights deep divisions within the Conservative Party over how to handle small boat crossings, with harder-line proposals gaining traction among some right-wing politicians.

Why now: The proposal to use lethal force against migrant boats is an extreme escalation of the UK's small boats debate, drawing immediate condemnation.
