Brown student maps the hidden global labor powering AI
A Brown University student has produced research charting the worldwide workforce behind artificial intelligence, documenting the often invisible data workers who label, review, and prepare the material that AI systems rely on. The work highlights how much of AI's progress depends on low-visibility labor across the globe, and it has drawn attention for reframing the technology's story around the people who power it rather than only its algorithms.
