Fifteen Years On, Batman: Arkham City Still Batman's Best Game
Original: 15 Years Later, Batman: Arkham City Remains Batman's Last Gaming Masterpiece
Polygon is marking the 15th anniversary of Batman: Arkham City, arguing that Rocksteady's 2011 release remains the character's last true gaming masterpiece. The retrospective credits the game's open-world design, combat and storytelling as a high point for licensed superhero games that has not been matched since, despite later releases in the Arkham series and other Batman titles.
Why now: The game's 15th anniversary has prompted retrospectives and debate about the state of Batman video games.
