Mercedes chief says team does not want Antonelli to win title
Original: Mercedes chief admits team doesn't want Antonelli to win F1 title at US Grand Prix
A senior Mercedes figure has admitted the team does not want teenage driver Kimi Antonelli to win the Formula 1 world championship at the United States Grand Prix. The remark, reported by GPFans ahead of the Austin race, has drawn attention as Antonelli's rookie season continues. It suggests the team is deliberately managing expectations rather than pushing the young Italian towards an unlikely title challenge.
Why now: A senior Mercedes figure openly downplaying his own driver's title chances ahead of the US Grand Prix is striking and prompts debate about how the team is handling its young talent.
