Baylor Fires Head Coach Dave Aranda Midway Through Seventh Season
Baylor University has dismissed head football coach Dave Aranda midway through his seventh season in charge of the Bears. Aranda, who led Baylor to a Big 12 championship in 2021, had overseen a decline in results in recent years. The decision ends one of the longer coaching tenures in the conference and leaves Baylor searching for a new leader mid-season.
Why now: The mid-season firing of a well-known Power Five coach is a major college football story with immediate implications for the program.
