Nigeria's NCDC approves ₦100,000 weekly support for Ebola contacts
Original: NCDC Approves ₦100,000 Weekly Support For Ebola Contacts In Isolation
Nigeria's Centre for Disease Control has approved weekly payments of ₦100,000 for people who came into contact with Ebola cases and are being held in isolation. The support is intended to encourage contacts to comply with monitoring requirements, as isolation can cut off income for those unable to work. The announcement comes as health authorities work to trace and contain any potential spread of the virus.
Why now: The announcement is new and touches on Ebola concerns, compensation and public willingness to comply with isolation rules.
