Original: Adlai Stevenson Dresses Down the Soviet Ambassador to the UN—Cuban Missile Crisis, Day Ten
The Council on Foreign Relations is revisiting Adlai Stevenson's dramatic confrontation with Soviet Ambassador Valerian Zorin at the United Nations on day ten of the Cuban Missile Crisis in October 1962, when Stevenson demanded the Soviet Union answer directly whether it had placed missiles in Cuba and vowed not to wait for answers 'until hell freezes over.'
