Original: prefeito de salvador

Attention around the mayor of Salvador comes amid a national dispute over free public transport. Senator Flávio Bolsonaro reversed himself after being questioned by President Lula and now says he supports the tariff-zero project, a proposal to eliminate bus fares that has become a flashpoint between the federal government and opposition politicians.

Why now: The tariff-zero debate involving Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro has put municipal leaders, including Salvador's mayor, in the spotlight.
