Junge Union accused of masking far-right positions
Original: @ kattascha Da demaskieren sich Rechtsextremisten, die vorgeben, die gesellschaftliche Mitte zu sein ... # JungeUnion #
A social media user is accusing members of the Junge Union, the youth wing of Germany's Christian Democratic Union, of presenting themselves as part of the political centre while, in the user's view, revealing far-right views. The remark reflects a broader debate in Germany about how far conservative youth organisations have drifted toward right-wing extremist rhetoric.
Why now: Ongoing German debate about alleged right-wing tendencies within the Union's youth organisations.
