England's record Test wicket-taker James Anderson, known as Jimmy, has issued a statement saying 'if it was up to me it wouldn't have ended like this', prompting an emotional reaction from cricket fans. Many read it as a bittersweet farewell to his international career, though some doubt he has fully retired from the game and expect him to keep playing.
Why now: Fans are reacting emotionally to a sudden, partly forced end to the career of one of cricket's greatest bowlers.
