Original: Reverse engineer of PC-98 Touhou games retires
Nmlgc, the developer behind the long-running project to reverse engineer and reimplement the PC-98 era Touhou games, has announced their retirement from the project. The work preserved and documented the earliest Touhou titles released by ZUN for the Japanese PC-98 platform, keeping them playable on modern systems. Fans of the series and digital preservation communities are discussing the announcement and the project's legacy.
Why now: The project was a cornerstone of Touhou fandom preservation efforts, so the retirement marks the end of a significant community era.
