Original: ningbo open

Defending champion Elena Rybakina has won the Ningbo Open in China, defeating Leylah Fernandez in the final to retain her crown. Rybakina reached the decider after beating Diana Shnaider in a tight two-set semi-final, earlier benefiting from Polina Kudermetova's retirement. Fernandez had spoken about the challenge of facing Rybakina, but the Kazakh proved too strong. Attention now shifts to the 2026 edition, where Rybakina and Iga Swiatek headline the draw.

Why now: Rybakina successfully defended her title, capping a strong week at the WTA event in Ningbo.
