Oregon election test data exposed to public internet
Original: Oregon election test data accidentally exposed to public internet, search engines
Oregon officials say election test data was accidentally made accessible on the public internet, where it could be found through search engines. The state is investigating how the testing information was exposed and says the error involved non-production data rather than actual election results or voter records. The disclosure comes amid heightened scrutiny of election security nationwide.
Why now: Ongoing public concern about election security makes any reported exposure of election-related data newsworthy.
